Where are they now? Installment 12: Yeydi One Year Later

Are you wondering if our anti-inflammatory weight loss program produces long-lasting and maintainable results? Yeydi is proof that it does!

Malory caught up with her client, Yeydi, a year after her program graduation to catch up and ask her how life post-program has been and how her weight management has been going. Yeydi shares her journey, the challenges she faced, and the strategies that have led to her sustained success.

Malory: Yeydi, what inspired you to join the program initially, and what was your health and weight situation like at that time?

Yeydi: I was tired of being tired. I was at a point in my life where I needed to prioritize my health. I was overweight and struggling with frequent headaches, upper and lower back pain, joint pain, inflammation, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, stomach pains, mild skin acne, loss of energy, and a loss of interest in the things I enjoyed the most. I wanted a holistic approach to my wellness and Ciccone Wellness Center offered exactly what I was looking for.

Malory: Have you noticed any improvements in your overall health or well-being since completing the program and maintaining your weight loss?

Yeydi: Absolutely. I now experience lots of clean energy, better sleep, and clear skin. I no longer suffer from aches and pains, fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, or inflammation! I continue to reap the benefits because I choose my food with intention and incorporate the program tools to my everyday life.

Malory: Maintaining weight loss is often challenging. What dietary and lifestyle changes have you continued to implement in your daily routine that you learned from the anti-inflammatory weight loss program that has been the key to your successful weight maintenance over the past year?

Yeydi: I’ve continued intermittent fasting and ensure I drink enough water. I continue to take my daily vitamins and a morning vitality routine. I am mindful of using foods that I learned work well for my body and limit the ones that cause inflammation or weight gain.

Malory: Have you integrated any additional principles of our anti-inflammatory diet into your long-term eating habits, and what are your go-to anti-inflammatory foods?

Yeydi: Green veggies, avocados, berries, cod, and turkey have become my favorites. Interestingly, these weren’t part of my regular diet before the program. However, now I’ve learned to prepare a variety of dishes incorporating these ingredients.

Malory: Can you share any extra tips or tricks that have helped you stay on track with your healthy eating habits and exercise routines?

Yeydi: One of the biggest things that helped me was journaling. I find that when I journal I am better at sticking to my routine and my healthy eating habits. I also try to meal prep for the week and make sure to have healthy snack options available.

Malory: How do you handle situations or events that may trigger unhealthy eating or lifestyle choices, such as social gatherings, holidays, or stressful periods?

Yeydi: I’m kinder to myself now. I understand how my body reacts to different foods, so I allow myself to indulge in moderation. Mindset matters—it’s about balance.

Malory: How do you balance maintaining a healthy weight with enjoying your favorite foods or occasional indulgences?

Yeydi: Moderation is key. I’ve structured my week according to the last phase of the program, Cycling, and I allocate specific days for planned indulgences, ensuring a balanced approach. Keeping the right mindset about food and nutrition is key.

Malory: Have there been any specific sources of support or motivation that have been particularly instrumental in your weight maintenance journey?

Yeydi: Staying active within the program’s private Facebook support group community has kept me grounded. It serves as a reminder as to why I started my weight loss journey and why I want to maintain my success.

Malory: Have you had any setbacks or plateaus during the past year, and if so, how did you overcome them?

Yeydi: A disrupted kitchen routine posed a challenge for a few months, affecting my eating habits. Opting for healthier grocery store choices instead of fast food helped me stay on track. Now that my kitchen’s back, I’ve reinstated my daily routines.

Malory: Can you provide some insights into your current meal planning and preparation routines? What are some of your favorite healthy recipes or go-to meals?

Yeydi: I plan my meals for the week and food shop accordingly. I favor meals that are easy to prepare, like turkey with stir-fried veggies, Mediterranean bowls, and Santa-Fe style omelets, and I’m also that person who snacks on an apple daily.

Malory: What advice or encouragement would you offer to others who are looking to achieve long-term weight loss and maintain their results?

Yeydi: Commitment, planning and discipline are key. You’ve got everything it takes inside of you to love yourself enough to know you deserve a healthier you.

Malory: Finally, how has your weight loss journey impacted your life in terms of confidence, self-esteem, and overall well-being?

Yeydi: My outlook on life has changed. I feel confident and empowered to support others struggling. I was at a point in my life when I didn’t think I was enough or deserved to be made a priority, but I found the strength within me. And if I did this, I believe others can discover their inner strength too.

Yeydi’s story resonates deeply with the principles of the Ciccone Wellness Center and emphasizes the possibility of sustainable weight loss and holistic wellness through dedication, mindful choices, and self-care.
