Latisha is a graduate of our weight loss program. She came to us initially wanting to lose weight, heal some of her aches and pains, and find a lifetime solution for healthy living. As important as it is to lose weight, it’s even more important for us to teach people how to keep it off.
Here’s a little interview with one of our favorite clients.
How long has it been since you completed your program?
I started the program in mid-October and finished in mid-January, so almost 5 months.
What components of the program have you kept after graduation?
I still make and drink the vitality drink every day. I truly enjoy it! I still weigh myself daily so that I know where I am and how to plan. I also still fast and keep my meals balanced with the healthy fats that I know work for my body. I know that I can eat without feeling deprived and I’ve made some healthy changes when it comes to snack foods.
How has your life changed since you’ve changed the way you eat?
When I started the program, I was hunched over due to hip pain and joint stiffness—I have little to no pain now! My energy level is so much better. I come home from work now and instead of crashing on the couch, I still have energy in the tank to do all the things I need to do. My husband also just bought me new hiking boots, so we’ve started hiking again. We just went on a family ski trip and for the first time in a long time, I was able to ski with my family. In the past, I would have watched from the lodge as everyone else enjoyed themselves. I feel like I’m no longer a spectator but a real participant in my life!
How is your weight and body function today in comparison to when you started?
I have lost even more weight since graduating, but the best part is I have zero fear of ever gaining it back. It’s so freeing to be able to control my body in this way and know that food is not the enemy.
If you were telling a family member that was struggling with inflammation and weight gain, what would you say about the program and your journey?
I tell everyone that this is not a diet, it’s a lifestyle change. It’s whole foods that taste great and you can change your life. As a nurse, I know how important these changes are.
On a scale of 1-10, what number accurately describes your experience with us?
50 +, I will forever be grateful for what this program has taught me, the coaching, and the continued support and love. I can’t say enough about how much this has changed my life.
