- Fill up on the less damaging items first. I tell all of my clients this! Before you go to a party where you have no control over what’s being served, fill up on a healthy meal prior and minimize the damage. Fill your plate with things that support health and leave a small space on the plate for things that don’t
- Use a smaller plate for big holiday meals. Fill every space with the foods you love but stop there
- Water, water, and more water…holiday dishes are high in fat but also salt. Water is excellent at managing weight gain. Hydrate before and after
- Plan for the aftermath if you do gain. Incorporate more exercise, less fat, and more whole food the week after the holiday. It’s easy just to fall into the rut of eating poorly so have a plan of action
- Partner with a friend that will hold you accountable. Check in throughout the holiday and make sure you are doing whatever you set as your goal
