Finding Faith: How She Lost the Weight and Gained Herself Back

We sat down with Faith, one of our incredible graduates from February 2023, to discuss her weight loss journey and how she has successfully maintained her results over two years later. In this candid interview, Faith shares her experiences, struggles, and triumphs—and the key factors that made this time different. Her story is a powerful reminder that sustainable weight loss is not just about shedding pounds but also about adopting a healthier mindset for life.

Meet Faith: A Life-Changing Decision

Tieva (Coach):
Faith, it’s been over two years since you graduated from our anti-inflammatory weight loss program. Tell us, when you started the program, what motivated you to take that first step?

Faith (Client):
It all started with seeing my cousin’s success on social media. After struggling with weight gain for years, especially after COVID, I realized I needed to make a change. I had tried everything in the past, and nothing worked long-term. I also knew I was turning 50 in 2023, and I wanted to lose 50 pounds before that milestone. That goal kept me motivated to get healthier.

Seeing Results—On and Off the Scale

Tieva:
It sounds like you set a really powerful goal for yourself! How much weight did you lose during the 90-day program, and what were some of your non-scale victories?

Faith:
I lost 42 pounds during the program, but honestly, the biggest victory was realizing I could still enjoy life—eat well, feel great, and still be happy while losing weight. 

Tieva:
That’s such a great insight, Faith! It isn’t just about the number on the scale; it is about changing how you approach food and health.

Why This Program Was Different

Tieva:
What made this program different from the diets you’ve tried in the past?

Faith:
With other diets, I always gained the weight back as soon as I stopped. They felt like a quick fix, but were never really about getting healthy. 

Maintaining Results for the Long Haul

Tieva:
You’ve maintained your results for almost two years now. What dietary and lifestyle changes have you implemented that have been key to your success?

Faith:
One of the biggest changes has been learning how to make healthier choices without feeling deprived. I use what I call the This or That method—finding healthier swaps for the foods I love. I also started listening to my body more and understanding how certain foods affect me. I used to feel bloated and uncomfortable, but now, thanks to the program education, I know exactly what to avoid.

Faith’s Go-To Anti-Inflammatory Staples

Tieva:
Have you integrated any additional principles of our anti-inflammatory diet into your long-term eating habits, and what are your go-to anti-inflammatory foods? 

Faith:
Definitely! I pay close attention to labels and avoid hidden sugars and unhealthy oils. My go-to foods are pork, chicken, shrimp, cauliflower rice, veggies like tomatoes and cucumbers, and healthy fats like nuts. I also enjoy a little dark chocolate—it’s a good fat-burner and keeps me satisfied!

Staying Motivated Through Life’s Milestones

Tieva:
You’ve learned so much about what works for you, Faith. What has helped keep you motivated throughout this journey?

Faith:
My initial motivation was turning 50, but since then, I’ve set smaller goals. Vacations, events, and even my daughter’s wedding pushed me to stay on track. In fact, I reached my lowest weight right before her wedding, and that was an incredible milestone!

Handling Setbacks with Grace and Confidence

Tieva:
Have there been any setbacks or plateaus over the past year, and how did you navigate those moments?

Faith:
I’ve definitely had some indulgences—especially during vacations or special events—but I don’t really view them as setbacks. Life happens, and I’ve learned how to reset and get back on track. After a trip, I’ll go back to the tools from the program, like the reset plan, to quickly lose any weight I may have gained. That’s been a huge part of maintaining my progress. I don’t let those moments discourage me—I know that if I indulge, some weight gain might happen, but I also know I have what I need to handle it. It’s all about balance. When I need a reminder, I pull out the program manual or my journal and reflect on how far I’ve come. That always helps me refocus and keep going.

Faith’s Meal Prep and Favorite Recipes

Tieva:
How does meal planning work for you now? Any favorite meals you want to share?

Faith:
Meal prepping on Sundays is a game-changer. Some of my favorites are:

  • Stuffed red peppers with ground turkey, cauliflower rice, Siete taco seasoning, and salsa
  • Grilled chicken with stewed tomatoes and roasted veggies
  • Spaghetti squash with ground chicken and Rao’s marinara—it’s simple and satisfying!

Balancing Clean Eating and Indulgences

Tieva:
How do you balance healthy eating with occasional indulgences?

Faith:
During the week, I stick to clean eating, and I save treats for weekends or special events. If I know something’s coming up, I’ll adjust my eating by avoiding fats or oils for a day or two before or after. It helps me stay balanced and in control.

Words of Wisdom for Others Starting Their Journey

Tieva:
What advice would you give to someone who is ready to lose weight and maintain their results long-term?

Faith:
Don’t wait—just start! There will always be an excuse, but you have to commit to yourself. Pick a date, set a goal, and go for it. The education you get from this program makes everything feel natural. You can still enjoy your life and be healthy, do it for yourself and no one else!

A New Life, A New Confidence

Tieva:
Faith, how has this journey impacted your confidence and well-being?

Faith:
This has been the best decision I’ve ever made. If I hadn’t seen that Facebook post from my cousin, I would still be 65 pounds heavier. Now, I feel amazing, and my self-esteem has improved drastically.  I enjoy looking good and when people recognize your hard work that gives you extra motivation to keep going.  Plus, helping others has been so rewarding. I’ve shared what I’ve learned with friends and family, and seeing them succeed has kept me motivated, too!
